The major proportion of 3-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid was metabolized by the benzoate pathway (Blakley and Papish, 1982). However, P. putida was unable to degrade 3-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid unless the cells were supplemented (e.g., with gluconate) and cometabolism occurred via the β-oxidation pathway (Blakley and Papish, 1982).
